Storybook Summer

A couple of years back, Jackson and I did stART, art projects based on works by famous authors Eric Carle and Dr. Seuss.  This summer, a blog I read is having Storybook Summer.

It's my new goal to read as much as I can to Jackson before it's time for him to read to me!  So, I recently traced Jackson's outline and asked him to paint it like Camilla Cream, the main character in the book Stripes.  While he worked intently for a long time, I can't say that the finished product was exactly the work of art I anticipated.

Another night, Jackson made grocery sack masks to represent some of Jackson's favorite Wild Things.  He also splatter-painted based on the book Olivia.

For fall, we're moving on to "Learning to Draw The Psalms."  We've already done five.  Reread Psalm 1.  Can you find the volcano?!  Or, how about the fire rocks in Psalm 5?
